THANATOSCHIZO Calls It Quits

Portuguese avant-garde maniacs THANATOSCHIZO have decided to disband due to artistic differences .

Commented the band in a statement: "Fourteen years of commitment, a lot of work and dedication prove that we were able to keep at bay the geographical handicap and that people believed we werent a mere band. However, there comes a time when the greatest change has to occur, in order to evolve even more. This is the time for THANATOSCHIZO's members to fly elsewhere and find other projects.

"To all of you who have supported us throughout our career, our most sincere gratitude.

THANATOSCHIZO's official web site, Facebook, MySpace and other channels will continue to be updated with reviews to our latest album and the merchandise section will still be active.

"Although THANATOSCHIZO is over, the feeling is unanimous: 'Origami' is our greatest achievement."

THANATOSCHIZO was founded in the fall of 1997 and has released five albums, a mini-CD and a demo. The band's latest CD, "Origami", was released in January via Major Label Industries. The effort was produced by Guilhermino Martins (THANATOSCHIZO guitarist) and was mastered by Mike Jussila (RAM-ZET, NIGHTWISH) at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland.

"Origami" was recorded at Teatro de Vila Real (in the band's hometown, Vila Real) and the group's own Blind & Lost Studios in Santa Marta de Penaguio, Portugal. The record features guest appearances by FADOMORSE (a Portuguese group that mixes national folk music with Frank Zappa's delirious moments),BANDA DE MSICA DE MATEUS (a local brass and woodwind ensemble) and Ricardo Frade, a young promising percussionist. According to a press release, the CD contains "songs from previous records but with a different touch, approach and edge to them. The more harsh and heavy melodies are going to give place to a more acoustic, experimental and ethnic side of the band's enterprise."
